Gone are the days of clever passwords

Remember when “password” and “monkey” were the popular passwords for most? Well, I’d like to think we moved on, but we haven’t. We thought we’d get crafty and outsmart those that wanted to hack our accounts with more sophisticated passwords that use the number “3” instead of an “E” or the number “1” for an “I”. Turns out that system is also very flawed. A recent article from Lifehacker (Your Clever Password Tricks Aren’t Protecting You from Today’s Hackers) covers it well in addition to a SecurityNow! podcast (Password Cracking Update: The Death of Clever) for those that prefer their learning in the car.
